# Our features

What Accountant can do for you.

## Track finances the right way

Every transaction has two sides. Accountant records both, so your accounts always balance and your reports add up. You don't need to know debits and credits: pick what happened, such as **Pay money** or **Transfer money**, and the app does the bookkeeping. See [The six transaction types](/accountant/transactions/transaction-types.md).

## Your data stays yours

* **No sign-up.** Your ledger lives on your device, and the app works offline.
* **We never receive your ledger.** Sync between your devices is optional and goes through your own Google Drive. See [Sync across devices](/accountant/sync-and-sharing/sync-across-devices.md).
* **Backups** you can protect with a password and restore any time, plus migration from Bluecoins, Spendee and Monefy. See [Backup and restore](/accountant/your-data/backup-and-export.md).
* **App lock** with a PIN or fingerprint.

The app is free with ads. [Premium](/accountant/getting-started/premium.md) removes ads and lifts usage limits. See the [Privacy Policy](/accountant/agreements/privacy-policy.md) for what ads and Google services collect.

## Made easy with AI (optional)

* **Scan a receipt** and get a draft transaction to check and confirm. The text is read on your device.
* **Drafts from bank alerts:** the texts, emails and app alerts from your bank become drafts. See [Drafts from bank alerts](/accountant/transactions/bank-alerts.md).
* **Ask AI Accountant** about your spending, balances and trends, or describe a transaction to draft it.
* Run AI **on your device**, or connect **Gemini**, **OpenAI** or **Claude** with your own API key.
* Don't want AI? Leave it off. Everything else still works.

See [Setting up AI Accountant](/accountant/ai-accountant/setting-up-ai.md).

## Your whole financial picture

* A **chart of accounts** for assets, liabilities, income and expenses.
* **Credit cards** with statements, minimum payments, due dates and reminders.
* **Loans** with a repayment schedule that splits each payment into principal and interest.
* **Savings goals** that follow your real account balances.
* **Subscriptions** with renewal and trial reminders, and price-change checks.
* **Bank details** that estimate the interest your savings and time deposits earn after tax.
* **Budgets** and income targets, checked against actual results, with alerts at 80% and 100%.
* **Scheduled and recurring** transactions, **templates**, **drafts**, **labels**, search and **Trash**.
* A **Home dashboard** you can arrange your way, plus home screen and lock screen widgets.

## Multi-currency, done properly

Keep each account in its own currency, including cryptocurrencies. Accountant records the exchange rate of every foreign-currency transaction, values your balances in your reporting currency, and keeps a rate history so past reports stay accurate. Rates download when you're online, or you can type them in. See [Multi-currency](/accountant/transactions/multi-currency.md).

## Reports you can trust

**Net worth**, **Profit & loss**, **Budget vs actual** and **Cash flow**, each compared with an earlier period, plus a statement of account for any account. Print them or save them as PDF or CSV. See [Reports](/accountant/reports-and-home/reports.md).

## Everywhere you are

Available in more than 50 languages, with a design that follows Samsung's One UI, on phones, foldables and tablets.

{% hint style="info" %}
Accountant is a bookkeeping and information tool. It doesn't give tax, legal, investment or accounting advice. AI-generated entries and insights can be wrong, so review them before relying on them.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://tribalfs.gitbook.io/accountant/our-features.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
