# Subscriptions

Keep track of streaming, software and other repeating charges, with renewal reminders and price changes.

**What you'll do:** track your subscriptions, see what they cost a month and a year, and get reminded before they renew.

Open **Subscriptions** (on phones, **More › Subscriptions**).

A subscription is a [scheduled payment](/accountant/transactions/scheduled-and-recurring.md) that the app keeps an eye on. The schedule records the charge, and the subscription adds the reminders, trial dates and notes.

## Add a subscription

Tap **Add subscription**, then choose:

* **New subscription:** enter the **Name**, **Amount**, how often it repeats, the **Next charge** date and the account it's **Paid from**.
* **From a scheduled payment:** pick a repeating payment you already scheduled, for example your music streaming plan.

Optional settings:

* **Renewal reminder:** choose **On the day** or a number of **Days before** (0 to 30).
* **Free trial ends:** the date your trial ends, with its own **Trial reminder**.
* **Notes:** for example, how to cancel.

## Subscriptions the app finds

Under **Found in your payments**, the app lists payments that look like subscriptions, such as the same amount to the same business every month. Tap **Track** to add one, or **Not a subscription** to hide it.

## The list

* At the top: what your subscriptions cost **a month** and **a year**. Charges in other currencies aren't included in the total.
* **Active** shows each subscription with its amount and next charge. A badge shows when a trial ends.
* **Ended** lists the ones you cancelled.

## When the price changes

If you record a charge with a different amount, you'll see *"Charged ₱549.00 on 12 Oct, not ₱499.00."* Tap **Update amount** to use the new price for future charges, or **Keep** the old one.

## Cancel or stop tracking

Open the subscription:

* **Cancel subscription:** future charges stop. Past payments stay. Tap **Resume** to start it again.
* **Stop tracking:** removes it from Subscriptions. The scheduled payment stays.
* **Edit schedule:** change the amount, repeat or account of the scheduled payment.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Cancelling here only stops the charges in your ledger. Cancel with the provider too.
{% endhint %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://tribalfs.gitbook.io/accountant/planning/subscriptions.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
